You must need extra effort to hike Machu Picchu, but this very worth to hike as you will not be disappointed for what you will get. You could do short hiking that takes 1 hour to enable you enjoying the Machu Picchu from the above. Around the location we are able to find Liama and Alpaca which is wildly alive. Before going back to Agues Calientes, we are allowed to stamp our passport with a writing Machu Picchu in the outdoor. The things you need to prepare for hiking the Machu Picchu is not only around your hiking equipments, but also additional stuffs you can not leave during your hiking. First is you had better bring the US$ or Euro currency from your original country and will get exchanged when you have been at Peru because those currencies are accepted there. The currency of Peru is Peruvian Sol.  You could be free charged for 90 days of visit if you are Indonesian tourist.  Be careful when you want to take a picture with the native people who wears the traditional clothes, because they may ask you some fee. Obey all the regulations during your visit in old archeology sites in Peru. You must be unexpecting something bad happens upon you during the trip. Wear your most comfortable shoes and clothes as there are so many archeology sites of Inca which must be reached by hiking.  You will not enjoy your hiking if you wear the outfit and shoes uncomfertably and you must avoid that stupidity. The last is dont forget to bring your passport during your hiking as there is always a passport screening.
